Construction on Villa Ladera began in the late 1950's and it was the 99th home to receive electricity in Puerto Vallarta. Actress Connie Stevens built her home next to Ladera and was neighbours for decades. Billionaire recluse Howard Hughes was known to have sequestered himself in Villa Ladera and it has been said that in the early 1960s, actor Rock Hudson fell in love with this secluded hillside home.
The mature gardens of Ladera feature palm trees, creeping vines, large potted plants, brightly coloured flowers, ferns, bougainvillea, ginger plants and other exotic flowers and greenery that flow around terraces, walkways and outdoor spaces. Lighting throughout ensures that nighttime is as beautiful as the day. Butterflies, neon birds, parakeets, dragonflies, hummingbirds, geckos and iguanas all call these gardens home.
The estate is located on the esteemed Santa Barbara St in the Amapas region. Exit the private semi-circular driveway and turn left to wander up this beautiful old lane. Turn right and meander down the cobblestone street into old town. Or, simply cross the street and enjoy Almar Resort and its world famous beach clubs Mantamar, the Top and Eden. A public staircase next to Almar guides you to the gorgeous sands of Los Muertos Beach.
