Construction on Villa Ladera began in the late 1950's. It was the 99th home to receive electricity in Puerto Vallarta. Neighbour behind, actress Connie Stevens, has overlooked Villa Ladera since the 1980s. Billionaire recluse Howard Hughes was known to have sequestered himself in Villa Ladera and it has been said that in the early 1960s, actor Rock Hudson fell in love with this secluded hillside home.
The mature gardens feature palm trees, creeping vines, large potted plants, brightly coloured flowers, ferns, bougainvillea, ginger plants and other exotic flowers and greenery that flow around terraces, walkways and outdoor spaces. Lighting throughout ensures that nighttime is as beautiful as the day. Butterflies, neon birds, green parakeets, dragonflies, hummingbirds, geckos and iguanas call these gardens home.
